Joyful Participation in Indigenous People's Weekend
We will be looking back joyfully on our participation in the 4th annual Indigenous People's Weekend festivities for months to come! We were able to meet so many of you, share more about our work, and build stronger connections with other organizations here in our community.
We really enjoyed the weekend of basketball tournaments, dancing, and arts and health workshops hosted by Niniijaanis One of Ones and our partner Montessori American Indian Childcare Center. The weekend honors Indigenous People's Day - a day intended to honor the rich history of Indigenous communities in the Americas and acknowledge their ongoing contributions. Minnesota law replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day in 2023, making it a state-recognized holiday.
We are grateful to have been invited into this space where children and families found learning, community, and joy together. Thank you to Alma MN Photographer for capturing the memorable time so wonderfully!
